Italian Sausage and Peppers
Ingredients
- 1 pound Italian sausage - mild
- 1 pound Italian sausage - hot
- 2 medium green peppers
- 3 medium onions
- 2 14 oz. cans stewed tomatoes
Slice sausage into bite size pieces and brown in skillet. Remove from skillet and place in large dutch oven.
Add chopped green peppers and onion slices to skillet and cook until slightly tender. Remove from skillet and add to dutch oven.
Add stewed tomatoes to dutch oven, stir. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 1-3 hours. The longer it simmers, the better the flavors blend.
Serve over a bed of white rice and enjoy.
Tip: The sausage is easier to slice if it is slightly frozen.
